Museum's Response to Recently Voiced Community Concerns

We want to address the concerns that D.C. residents have a fair opportunity to apply for museum construction jobs. These concerns have been raised recently in a flyer regarding construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

The flyer refers to the construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, which is in the first stage of construction. The Smithsonian has contracted with a joint venture company for this project: Clark/Smoot/Russell (CSR). Two of the firms, Smoot and Russell, are African American owned companies.

CSR and its subcontractors are responsible for the workforce on the site.

Applicants interested in applying for construction jobs may call Clark Construction's jobs hotline, (301) 272-8188 and leave contact information. In the coming weeks, the hotline will announce specific positions that need to be filled.

Applicants will be able to go directly to a CSR representative in mid-August when a trailer is scheduled to open on the site at Constitution Avenue and 14th Street. Until then, workers may fill out applications at Clark's mobile job site, 10th Street and New York Ave., every Wednesday from 7 am to 9 am.
