It is essential that a person can affect the positive outcomes as much as possible. One of the ways is through obtaining an education that provides one with the ability to choose one's vocation, location and quality of life.

The Watson sisters are part of a family that believes strongly in the value of education as shown by the below list of degrees obtained by the family members. Aremita R. Watson, the mother, has a bachelor of science degree and two masters degrees. Rudy J. Watson, the father, has a bachelor of business administration degree, two masters degrees, and a Ph.D. Their three daughters and son-in-law have or are close to obtaining a total of ten college degrees among them.

A unique development is that the daughters, Noshua, Tenea and Cambria, each went directly from the eighth grade to college, skipping high school. They all attended Mary Baldwin College's Program for the Exceptionally Gifted (PEG). Each of them graduated from college at age 17. Each of them has a graduate degree. Noshua is currently in a Ph.D. program and Tenea obtained her Ph.D. at age 23. The above photo shows the degrees obtained by the Watson sisters.

Why the focus on education? It is so they have choices in determining their lifestyles. There are many events in life in which one does not have much influence in its occurrence. Some of these events have positive outcomes and some have negative outcomes. It is essential that a person can affect the positive outcomes as much as possible. One of the ways is through obtaining an education that provides one with the ability to choose one's vocation, location and quality of life.

The Watson sisters serve as an example of what is possible through hard work and determination.

CHOICES By Dr. Rudy J. Watson

We choose because we can.

Life is a gift.
It's no waste to ponder.
So precious, so pure, a marvelous wonder.

Here now, then gone.
The time we did lose.
The result is determined by whatever we chose.

Some things we control.
Most things we do not.
The outcomes influenced by knowledge we've got.

Though not predetermined,
We choose cause we can.
The gift flows freely from above, from I AM.
