NMAAHC Collections

The museum is collecting artifacts that cover the breadth of the African American experience. They will serve to inform, enlighten and inspire a wide range of visitors of all ages. When we open our doors to you, we want those who visit our museum to reflect on the essential ideas of America — citizenship, liberty, and equality — to better understand themselves and others. Our collections will be essential to that process by providing a foundation that will support an interactive, engaging, and informative environment that illustrates the importance of African American history to the history of the nation and the world. Until our scheduled opening in 2015, we hope you continue to visit these pages online and see what’s new.

Welcome to collections of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.
